Artist Samia Halaby series of lectures: Palestinian Artists of the Intifada and I

Concept: Samia Halaby spoke of her experience in writing her book, “Liberation Art of Palestine”, published in 2003, for which she interviewed nearly 50 Palestinian artist between 1999 – 2003. According to her research, Halaby says that drawing during the intifada was relied on many sources, including abstract Islamic art of the middle ages, the revolutionary art during the 20th century, and the Mexican Murals Movement, in particular. In addition to ancient art of the Arab region, and the symbolic content of Palestinian popular thought. Halaby will explain how those interviews influenced her work through a slide show presentation.
