Birzeit University Museum introduces the First Student Exhibition. This is one of the museum’s programs that motivate students from different Palestinian universities to take part in the production of contemporary art. In this edition, we explore the works of 23 students who participated in a workshop run by the curator of the exhibition, Yazid Anani. Most works exhibited tackle concepts pertaining to social and political protest, thus unraveling issues of power relations, body and sexuality and urban transformations. The works also provoke questions pertaining to the central Palestinian crisis manifest in the perpetuation of the Israeli occupation and the limitation of the institution of the Palestinian Authority, as well as, the proliferation of neoliberal economy as a substitute for the striving towards making the liberation project concrete.
